PRESIDENT RICHARD CARVALHO SPEAKS……
Friends, For a person like me ‘St. Peter’s Association Barkur – Mumbai’ has become an integral part of my life since last two decades, nevertheless, prior to it also I was a strong admirer of Barkurian youth activities in Mumbai under the banner SPCYA since 1985. In a way, it is the Silver Year of re-activated Barkurain spirit and unity as one, in Mumbai though there was an Association as early as 1938. St. Peter’s Association never craved for fame or publicity…. on the contrary it followed us. In other words, whatever we as a platform done during the last 20 years, touched the hearts of many and to substantiate this claim, many organizations, periodicals, and people wrote and spoke high about us both in Mumbai especially at native Barkur, from time to time….. Now yet another leaf added to its credit – the ‘Barkur-on-line’ the one and only website of Barkurians, voluntarily offered to shape a section exclusively reserved for SPA and its activities. Let me express our gratitude’s to the Host Kishore Gonsalves and his team, for considering this special status and recognition. Very often news items, achievements of some of our stalwarts, personal profiles deservedly found a place of honor in its various pages, beginning Dec, 2001, since the launch of this web-site…. and its no secret most of our Members are the frequent visitors and contributor’s of the site, now it’s a greater responsibility on our part to keep the special space alive with vide range of information and observations. On this auspicious moment, I on behalf of the SPA Managing Committee, call upon all its admirers and well wishers, to interact through these live pages, give your valuable suggestions, guidelines to reach out to more and more Barkurians in days to come. Let’s rise above the expected and utilize this tool of net working to pool our ideas, resources and knowledge together in this fast developing era of all round progress of self and each other and let us stand at par with modern world. Barkur always create passion for us and I have noticed the same innovative and imaginative approach in most of us –young and old alike. While welcoming all of you once again to these portals, take this opportunity to invite all of you, with family and friends to Barkur to celebrate Annual Grand Feast of St Peter, the Apostle on 16th and 17th December, 2008, to mark the fruitful and dedicated presence of SPA in the service of Barkurains in Mumbai and natives.
