Former Minister Sri K. Jayaprakash Hegde called upon students to engage themselves by becoming student leaders at the college level itself, so that they can embody leadership qualities during their student years and play a key role in leading the state and nation as future leaders.
He made these remarks while inaugurating the 2025-26 Student Forum inauguration, Teachers' Day celebration, and college annual magazine release program at Srimati Rukmini Shetty Memorial National Government First Grade College and Post Graduate Study Centre, Barkur.
During this occasion, an oath ceremony was administered to the student leaders. Prof. Rajashekar Hebbar, the founding Principal of the college, narrated the journey of how the college grew amidst challenges from its inception. He emphasized that students should overcome problems while building their lives and should respect their parents and teachers with reverence.
As part of the Teachers' Day celebration, Prof. Rajashekar Hebbar was felicitated, and all teachers were honored by presenting them with flowers. The college's annual magazine 'Hejje' (Footsteps) was also released during this event.
The program was presided over by Principal Dr. Bhaskar Shetty S. Present at the event were college development committee members Sri Srinivas Shettigar and Sri Rajaram Shetty, academic committee advisor Prasad Rao, Student Welfare Officer Ms. Lolakshi, annual magazine editor Mrs. Rohini, Student Leader Sri Balaji, Deputy Leaders Ms. Chetana and Ms. Vijayalakshmi, and Secretary Sri Ahmad Fayis.
Ms. Lolakshi welcomed the gathering, Sri Satish Kumar offered prayers, and Mrs. Shailaja compered the program.
