Barkur: Under the auspices of Atula Yuvaka Sangha, Heradi, Barkur, the 36th Sarvajanika Shri Ganeshotsava was held from Monday, September 14, 2026, to Wednesday, September 16, 2026. The festival was conducted with great splendour, featuring various religious and cultural programmes, with Shri Ganesha Adiga of Haval officiating as the priest (purohitya).
Achievers Felicitated at Religious Assembly
At a religious assembly (dharmika sabha) held on Tuesday, September 15, achievers who have distinguished themselves in various fields and those engaged in social service were identified and felicitated.
The programme was presided over by Shri Uday Kumar, President of the Ganeshotsava Samiti.
Among those present on the occasion were Suresh Pujari, President of the Management Board of the Shri Bhairava Ganapathi Mahalingeshwara Temple, Chaulikeri, Barkur; Shri Chandra Shri Prakash Tantri, Vice-President of the Ganeshotsava Samiti; General Secretary Shri Ratnakara Shetty; Secretary Shri Umesh Sharana Pujari; Treasurer Ramesh Pujari; and Raghavendra Acharya, Shridhar Mendon, Manikantha, Shripathi Acharya, Dinesh, Narasimha, Rajendra, Prakash Mendon, Jayananda Pujari, Sadashiva and Rajesh Pujari. Also present were teacher Jayanthi, Udayakumar Shetty (Headmaster, Heradi School) and Shyamasundara Shetty (Headmaster, Hosala School).

- Dr. Ashwitha Barkur, Ranganakeri — an achiever who received an honorary doctorate from the University of Mysore
- Shri H. Ratnakara Shetty — Retired Headmaster, Heradi School
- Shri Venkatesh Kramadhari — Retired Principal, Heradi National Industrial Training Institute (ITI)
- Kumari Danvitha, Hosala — an achiever in the fields of sports, Yakshagana and music, and daughter of Shri Ganesh Pujari and Smt. Shilpa G. Pujari, owners of Barkur Nagara Matha Shri Vidya Ganapathi Agro Industries
Vedamurthi Shri Ganapathi Udupa Kudli was also congratulated and honoured at the event.
Distinguished Guests
Shrimad Shri Shri Shri Vidyesha Teertha Swamiji of Bhandarakeri Matha, who is currently observing the Chaturmasya vow, graced the Ganeshotsava programme and delivered a message of blessing.
Former minister Shri Pramod Madhwaraj also attended the celebrations and extended his good wishes for the programme.
Immersion Procession
On the evening of Wednesday, September 16, 2026, a grand and glorious procession (pura meravanige) was taken out through the town, following which the idol of Lord Ganapathi was immersed at Chaulikere in Barkur.
