Barkur Celebrates Sri Krishna Janmashtami with Grand "Muddu Krishna" Competition and Community Felicitations
Barkur witnessed a vibrant celebration of Sri Krishna Janmashtami on Saturday, September 12, 2026, as Seva Sangama Sri Narayana Guru Shishu Mandira, Badanagoli, Hosala, Barkur, joined hands with the Rotary Club of Barkur, the Rotary Community Corps (RCC) Barkur, the "Nammooru Barkur" Facebook Group, Yuvavahini (R) Yedtadi Unit, and Shourya Disaster Management Unit, Barkur, to host a memorable programme at Sri Pattabhiramachandra Kalyana Mantapa, Barkur, beginning promptly at 2:30 pm.
The event opened with an inaugural address by Vedamurti Sri Prabhakara Bayari, Hosala, Barkur. The inaugural session was presided over by Sri Krishna G. Poojary, President of Seva Sangama Sri Narayana Guru Shishu Mandira, with Sri Narayana Devadiga, Trustee-Treasurer of Seva Sangha Trust (R), Kundapura, delivering the keynote address.

The valedictory session held in the evening was presided over by Sri B. Shantharama Shetty, Working President of Sri Panchalingeshwara Temple, Barkur. Guests of honour included Smt. Achievers Felicitated
The occasion also saw special felicitations for outstanding achievers from the local community. Kum. Sanjana, a student of Barkur National Junior College who cleared the National Talent Search Examination, and Kumari Samanvi S. Poojary, Barkur, a young piano artist, were honoured for their accomplishments. Additionally, Sri Udaykumar Hosala, Chief Bhagavata of the renowned Sri Kshetra Mandarthi Mela, who attended the programme, was warmly felicitated and honoured by the organisers.
Muddu Krishna Competition Results
A highlight of the celebration was the "Muddu Krishna" competition, held in both the Public category and the Shishu Mandira children's category, where winners received cash prizes along with mementoes, and all participating children were given consolation prizes.

The children of Shishu Mandira, along with the young ones from Bala Gokula and mothers' groups, also presented a series of colourful cultural performances that added to the festive spirit of the evening.
Community Participation
The event saw enthusiastic participation from Sri Anand Kumar, Barkur (Nammooru Barkur Facebook Group); Smt. Janhavi A. Poojary (Supervisor, Narayana Guru Shishu Mandira); Smt. Gowri V. Poojary (Mataji); and Smt. Tulasi (Co-Mataji), along with members of the Rotary Club of Barkur, Anns Club members, members of the Barkur Shourya Unit, children of Shishu Mandira and Bala Gokula, along with their parents, and members of the general public.
Sri Krishna G. Poojary, President of Shishu Mandira, delivered the welcome address, while Secretary Sri Manjunath Poojary proposed the vote of thanks. Sri Ajith Kumar compered the programme.
The organisers extended heartfelt gratitude to all donors and well-wishers who contributed directly and indirectly to the success of the event, and specially thanked the Administrative Board of Sri Pattabhiramachandra Temple for generously providing the venue for the celebration.
