While Barkur town in Karnataka observed its grand Titular Feast on June 29, the Barkurian diaspora in the UAE came together on Sunday, July 5, to honour their patron saint in a celebration marked by prayer, entertainment, and community spirit — continuing a cherished tradition that binds Barkurians settled far from home to their shared roots.
The programme was compered by Peter Menezes, who also welcomed gathered members in his capacity as President of the Barkurian Community in UAE.
Prayer Service
The celebration opened with prayers led by Peter Menezes and Thelma D'Almeida. The Word of God was proclaimed by Jennifer Dias, followed by the Prayers of the Faithful, offered by Sunny Lewis, Ajay Dias, Thelma D'Almeida, Annie Martis, and Savita Menezes.








Welcome Address
President Peter Menezes formally welcomed the gathering, setting the tone for an afternoon of fellowship and celebration.






Entertainment
Patson Almeida and Savita Menezes delighted the audience with musical performances, while Michelle Andrade and Akshay Dias organised games for both kids and adults, ensuring festivities for all age groups.










Lunch and Housie
A community lunch followed, after which members enjoyed a lively round of Housie (Tambola), conducted by Venrold Lewis and Anish Dias.
Thanksgiving and Closing
Rohit D'Souza proposed the vote of thanks, and the event concluded on a festive note with community members dancing to the Baila.
