Young skipper from SVVN High School Barkur clinches Man of the Match as team qualifies for Karnataka State Championship
HESKOTTURU – In a stunning display of skill and determination, 15-year-old Ajay from SVVN High School Barkur led the Udupi District cricket team to a memorable victory in the Mysore Division U-17 school boys cricket tournament, organized by the Department of Education, Karnataka State.
The thrilling final, held at Heskotturu Grounds, saw Udupi District outclass their arch-rivals Dakshina Kannada in a commanding performance that showcased the team's exceptional talent and fighting spirit.
Captain's Heroics
Ajay, the young captain from the coastal town of Barkur, not only demonstrated exemplary leadership throughout the tournament but also delivered when it mattered most. His outstanding individual performance in the final earned him the coveted Man of the Match trophy, capping off a remarkable campaign for both player and team.
"This victory belongs to the entire team and our coach. We worked hard for this moment," said an elated Ajay after receiving his individual award.
Road to State Championship
The victory has earned the Udupi District team a prestigious berth in the Karnataka State Level Tournament, scheduled to be held in Kolar in October 2025. This achievement marks a significant milestone for the district's cricketing aspirations and puts them on the map at the state level.
