Barkur: A collaborative cleanliness drive was carried out today, Sunday, August 2, 2026, on the upper section of the Barkur-Kachooru bridge, jointly organized by the Rotary Club of Barkur, Rotary Community Corps Barkur, Shourya Disaster Management Unit Barkur, Hindu Sangama Barkur Mandala, Rajadhani Raja Youth Club Barkur, and the Public Sri Ganeshotsava Samiti of Moodu Thota, Balehithlu, Barkur.
The morning initiative was undertaken after it was observed that the water drainage holes on top of the bridge had become clogged with accumulated grass, sand, and mud, obstructing the free flow of rainwater. This blockage had been causing considerable inconvenience to both pedestrians and motorists using the bridge. In response, volunteers from the participating organizations worked together to clear away the debris — including sand, mud, and weeds — thereby restoring proper drainage and easing the passage of water.
The event saw the active participation of members from the Rotary Club of Barkur, the Rotary Community Corps, the Barkur Shourya team, the Rajadhani Raja Youth Club, the Hindu Sangama Barkur Mandala, and the Public Sri Ganeshotsava Samiti of Moodu Thota, Balehithlu along with Kishore Gonsalves of barkuronline.com (Kishu Enterprises, Daijiworld, Udupi).
The organizers extended heartfelt thanks to everyone who took part in this cleanliness initiative.
