ICYM Barkur Parish Celebrates 79th Independence Day with Great Enthusiasm

Today at Barkur Parish, the Feast of the Assumption of Mary and India's Independence Day were celebrated with great grandeur under the leadership of ICYM (Indian Catholic Youth Movement).

The morning's festive celebration Mass was offered by Rev. Fr. Reginald Pinto,  Director of 'Sampada' organization of Udupi Diocese.

After Mass, all parishioners gathered together in the church's open ground to celebrate India's Independence Day with great enthusiasm.

Barkur Panchayat President Mr. Shantharam Shetty was the chief guest for this program. He hoisted the flag and delivered an inspiring message to the gathering.

Present on this occasion were Rev. Fr. Reginald Pinto, local Panchayat member Mrs. Shaila D'Souza, Parish Pastoral Council Vice President Joseph Fernandes, Secretary Eric Soans,  Coordinator of Various Councils,  Herald D'Souza, and ICYM Animator Johnson Dalmeida.

ICYM President Ryan Aroza welcomed everyone to the celebration. Dion Gonsalves and Macnel Suvaris served as commanding officers for the flag hoisting ceremony, adding dignity to the proceedings. Secretary Rachel Gonsalves expressed gratitude to all participants, while Renish Pinto conducted the program smoothly.

The celebration successfully combined religious devotion with patriotic fervor, as the parish community came together to honor both their faith and their nation on this significant day.
