Barkur Institutions Mark 80th Independence Day with Fervour and Festivity
Educational institutions across Barkur came together on August 15 to celebrate the nation's 80th Independence Day, with flag hoistings, patriotic programmes, cultural performances and felicitations marking the occasion at several schools.
Shri Vidyesha Vidyamanya National English Medium School, Heradi–Barkur
School Correspondent Mr. Raj Ram Shetty hoisted the National Flag, with Mr. Archibald Futardo (Administrative Coordinator, The Barkur Educational Society), Mr. Rajesh Shanubhog (PTA President) and Mrs. Likhitha Kothari (Head of Institution) present along with staff, parents and students. Nandan and Ayush compered the programme and gave the vote of thanks, School Student Leader Shobhith Shetty led the flag salute, and students presented a variety of cultural programmes.
National Primary School, Hanehalli and National High School
Students and staff of Hanehalli National Primary and High School jointly celebrated the 80th Independence Day. Chief guest Smt. Vanaja Teacher hoisted a new khadi flag and delivered the Independence Day message, with NCC cadets, teachers and school leadership taking part in the ceremony. This was followed by a felicitation programme honouring eight distinction-holders from last year's Class 10 batch and alumna Dr. Ashwitha for her recent doctorate, along with student speeches on the freedom struggle and cultural performances. A day earlier, NCC students had held a "Ghar Ghar Tiranga" march, distributing flags to homes and shops in the neighbourhood.
National High School, Barkur, also joined the district in observing the 80th Independence Day with due celebration on its campus.

At Maryknoll Higher Primary School, Barkur, Independence Day celebrations were held under the guidance of Correspondent Rev. Fr. Ronald Miranda and Headmistress Joyce D'Sa.

Rukmini Shedthi Memorial National Higher Primary School, Heradi–Barkur, held its Independence Day programme, with students and staff taking part in the flag-hoisting and celebrations.
Shettigar Industries, Ranganakeri, Barkur
Shettigar Industries, Ranganakeri, Barkur, also marked the occasion, joining the town's institutions in the spirit of the day lead by its proprietor Shrinivasa Shettigar.
Across Barkur, the 80th Independence Day was observed with flag hoistings, patriotic speeches, cultural programmes and community participation, reflecting the shared spirit of celebration among the town's schools and institutions.
