'Muddu Krishna Competition' at Smt. Rukmini Shedthi Memorial National Higher Primary School, Heradi
A pleasant morning at the Smt. Rukmini Shedthi Memorial National Higher Primary School, Heradi, turned into a delightful glimpse of Dwaraka as more than 25 little children, aged between one and six years, dressed in colourful Muddu Krishna attire, captivated the modest gathering with their innocence, charm and enthusiasm.
The campus wore a festive look as the tiny participants arrived around 10.00 a.m., beautifully dressed as Bala Krishna, complete with traditional ornaments and accessories. Some carried little pots filled with benne (butter), while others held kollalu (flute), recreating the enchanting images of Krishna's childhood.
Their colourful costumes and innocent smiles transformed the school premises into a charming celebration of India's rich cultural heritage.
A short stage programme was organised on the occasion, which also became an opportunity to honour Correspondent Mr. Ratnakar Shetty, retired DFO, for his constant encouragement and yeoman service to the School and the Barkur Educational Society. The honour was presented by Lion's Club Hanglur, the generous sponsors of the event.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Lion's President and members, along with the dignitaries on the dais.
Head Master Mr. Udaya Shetty warmly welcomed the gathering and expressed his gratitude to Lion's Club Hanglur and the parents who brought their little ones forward to participate in the competition.
In his message, the Lion's Club President Mr. Hamsraj Shetty conveyed his best wishes for the success of the Muddu Krishna Competition. He observed that programmes of this nature help children develop an appreciation and love for India's rich cultural traditions and heritage from an early age.
Mr. Archibald Furtado, Admin Coordinator, National Group of Educational Institutions, expressed his happiness at witnessing such enthusiastic participation by the children. He thanked the sponsors, teachers, parents and, most importantly, the little participants for making the event colourful and memorable.
The judges of the competition and other guests were honoured with roses as a gesture of appreciation. Mr. and Mrs. A. Ratnakar Shetty, KFS, in a special felicitation, were presented with a traditional shawl, garland and memento. Responding to the honour, they expressed their heartfelt gratitude to 'Lion's Club Hanglur' for its generosity and special concern for the children of Heradi.
Ms Swathi, teacher proposed the vote of thanks, acknowledging the contribution of everyone who made the programme possible whereas Sr Teacher Ms Revathy compeered the event as Teachers Srinidhi and Smitha endured smooth flow of competition.
The most delightful moment followed when the little Krishnas took the stage and danced gracefully to melodious Krishna songs and music. Their innocent expressions, colourful costumes and spontaneous movements won the hearts of the audience and provided a memorable feast for the eyes.
Former Head Master Mr. H. Ratnakar Shetty, President and members of SDMC, Atula Youth Association, Mr Udaya Kumar, Mr Ratnakar Shetty - Durga Traders, representatives of the Old Students' Association, and other well-wishers graced the occasion and encouraged the young participants.
The winners as well as all the participants were felicitated with cash prizes and gifts, followed by sweets and refreshments.
More than a competition, the Muddu Krishna celebration became a beautiful meeting point of childhood innocence, parental affection, community support and cultural tradition. The sight of tiny Krishnas filling the Heradi campus with joy reminded everyone that the best way to preserve our heritage is to introduce it lovingly to the next generation.
The event concluded with smiles all around, leaving behind cherished memories for the children, parents, teachers and the entire Heradi community.
