National PU College, Barkur, came alive with colour, culture and jubilation as it celebrated its College Annual Day on Thursday, 11th December 2025. The programme commenced punctually with a prayerful and melodious invocation by the students, setting a serene and dignified tone for the day.





Principal Mrs. Usha Kiran Shetty extended a warm and cordial welcome to all distinguished guests, well-wishers, parents and students. She presented a crisp and comprehensive Annual Report, highlighting the institution’s impressive achievements in academics, sports and games, cultural and literary activities, and other notable initiatives undertaken during the academic year.
In keeping with the Annual Day celebrations, a series of competitions had been organised earlier, and prizes were ceremoniously distributed to the deserving winners. The list of recipients of various endowment cash prizes was read out by Mrs. Ashwini Kanchan, Lecturer in English, while the names of cultural and literary prize winners were announced by Mrs. Vijayalakshmi, Lecturer in Business Studies.

The function was presided over by Mr. B. Shantarama Shetty, proud recipient of the prestigious 'Sahakara Ratna State Award' deservedly recognised on this occasion as Principal and staff draped him with traditional shawl, garland, fruit basket and a memento and in his capacity as the dynamic President of the Barkur Educational Society, in his presidential address, congratulated all the winners and achievers for bringing honour and recognition to the college through their talents and hard work.





Meritorious sports achievers at Taluk, District and Zonal levels, as well as students who represented the college at the State level, were honoured with a traditional shawl, memento and garland. Mr. Umesh Shetty, Physical Education Director, was present as his students were felicitated for bringing laurels to the institution. Headmistress of National Highschool, Mrs Hemavathy PS, HM of Hanehalli Primary School Mr Uday Kumar Shetty, Mrs Jyothi Shetty Sr teacher and Treasurer of NHS Old Students Association also graced the occasion.
The programme was skilfully and gracefully compered by Mrs. Soumya, Lecturer in Biology. The formal stage function concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Ullittaya, Lecturer in Sanskrit.
What followed was a delightful two-hour cultural extravaganza, featuring group dances, Yakshagana, folklore presentations, Hulivesha, Chende and other artistic performances. Each item was executed with charm, precision and vibrancy, keeping parents and guests glued to their seats. The event concluded smoothly at 1:30 pm, leaving the entire gathering thoroughly satisfied and deeply appreciative as all the Teaching and non-teaching staff, students put in their best efforts with Principal.
