In the serene and picturesque Shettigar Village, surrounded by lush greenery, the entire community came together to honour the nation’s builders, their sacrifices, and their unmatched service to the motherland. The occasion was the grand 79th Independence Day celebration, organised by Shettigar Industries, Ranganakere.
At the heart of this event stood Shri Sreenivasa Shettigar, the visionary proprietor of Shettigar Industries – a name respected not only in the world of business but also cherished as a philanthropist and generous patron of religious, cultural, sports, and educational causes across Barkur and beyond. Known for his deep patriotism and humility, Mr. Shettigar has been a source of livelihood for hundreds, employing skilled professionals and dedicated workers alike. On this special morning, they stood in disciplined rows, radiating pride, as their beloved employer extended a warm, almost familial welcome to everyone present.
The honour of hoisting the Indian Tricolour was given to Prof. Archibald Furtado, retired Lecturer of Milagres College, Kallianpur. In his inspiring address, Prof. Furtado traced the saga of India’s freedom struggle, paying tribute to the nation’s martyrs. He also praised the family-like atmosphere nurtured within the factory, and commended Mr. Shettigar’s down-to-earth nature and genuine concern for the well-being of his employees.
Mr. Udaya Shetty, Headmaster of National Higher Primary School, Hanehalli, fondly recalled Mr. Shettigar’s generous contributions as the school’s Correspondent, acknowledging his steadfast support and commitment to education as the true backbone of its progress.
Adding a melodic touch to the celebrations, the children’s choir of NHPS filled the air with soulful patriotic songs, stirring emotions among all gathered. The event concluded with a proud rendition of the National Anthem – Jana Gana Mana, bringing the morning to a dignified close.
True to their tradition of hospitality, Shettigar Industries ensured that every guest and participant was treated to delicious refreshments, sweets, and snacks – a gesture that reflected the warmth and unity of the Shettigar family.
