Barkuru, January 27, 2026 - A magnificent procession organized by the Hindu Sangama Organizing Committee, Brahmavara Taluk, Barkuru Mandal, was held today, witnessing enthusiastic participation from various community organizations, religious leaders, and devotees.
Procession Route and Religious Ceremonies
The attractive procession commenced from the revered Sri Batte Vinayaka Temple in Barkuru and proceeded through the town, culminating at the Bhutala Pandya Stage located in front of Sri Durga Traders ground. During this auspicious occasion, special worship ceremonies were conducted honoring Bharat Mata (Mother India) and Gomata (the sacred cow), symbolizing devotion to the nation and traditional values.





Diverse Participation
The grand procession witnessed remarkable participation from various quarters. Multiple bhajan (devotional singing) groups from Barkuru and surrounding areas joined the celebration, adding spiritual fervor to the event. The procession featured colorful tableaux, traditional chande (drum) troupes, trumpets, a Nashik band, and members from various social organizations. Distinguished guests also participated in the procession, making it a truly community-wide celebration.
Prominent Participants and Religious Leaders
The procession saw the participation of several prominent religious and civic leaders from the region. Sri Suggi Sudhakar Shetty, President of the Barkuru Sri Panchalingeshwara Temple Renovation Committee, and Sri B. Shantaram Shetty, President of Barkuru Gram Panchayat, were among the notable participants who joined the procession.





Administrative trustees from important temples also took part in the event. Sri Srinivas Shettigar from Ranganakere, who serves as an administrative trustee of Sri Brahmalinga Veerabhadra Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple, participated alongside Sri Venkataramana Bhandari from Barkuru and Sri Srinivas Udupa from Kudli, demonstrating the unity and coordination among various religious institutions in the area.

The main stage of the event was graced by several prominent personalities who attended as chief guests:

The main attraction of the event was a theatrical performance (Natyarupaka) presented by Srishti Kala Kutira, Udupi, under the leadership of Dr. Srimati Manjari Pushpachandra. This cultural presentation added an artistic dimension to the religious and community celebration.
Event Proceedings
The formal proceedings of the event were conducted with traditional decorum. Sri Satish Poojari from Bennekudru welcomed the distinguished guests and delivered the introductory address, setting the tone for the celebration. Sri B. Ratnakar Shetty, retired headmaster from Bail Mane, Hanehalli, along with Sri Tejas, skillfully anchored the program and provided commentary throughout the event. The vote of thanks was proposed by Sri R. Ratnakar Shetty, expressing appreciation to all participants and supporters.


The event successfully brought together the community in a celebration of cultural and religious heritage, demonstrating the continued vitality of traditional practices and community solidarity in Barkuru.
