Hanehalli National Primary School celebrated its English Fest with great enthusiasm and purpose on Friday, 23rd January 2026, reaffirming its commitment to empowering rural children through quality language education.

In today’s rapidly evolving world, the significance of English as a window to wider opportunities continues to grow. Parents increasingly realise that a strong foundation in English equips their wards with confidence, wider exposure, and the ability to compete with their urban counterparts. Responding to these aspirations, Head Master Mr Udaya Shetty, along with his dedicated and cohesive team of talented teachers, has been making sustained efforts to strengthen English learning at the elementary level.
To showcase the knowledge, creativity, and communication skills of students from Classes I to VIII, the school organised its second succesful consecutive English Fest, a language-exclusive celebration.

The programme, attended by parents, management representatives, and officials from the Education Department, proved to be highly successful, engaging, and memorable.
The programme commenced at 10.00 a.m. in the National Auditorium, which resonated with enthusiasm as students gathered for a prayerful beginning with a hymn. A brief inaugural session followed, during which Head Master Mr Udaya Shetty extended a warm, cordial, and homely welcome to the gathering.

The event was graced by Shri Shedikodlu Vittal Shetty, Vice-President of the Barkur Educational Society, as the Chief Guest, along with distinguished invitees Mrs Annapurna (ECO Brahmmavar), Mrs Lalita (CRP), Mr Archibald Furtado (Administrative Coordinator, National Group of Educational Institutions), Mrs Vanaja H Shetty, Retired Teacher and Member BES, Mrs Hemavathy P.S. (Headmistress, National High School), Mr Ratnakar Shetty (HM, Heradi RSMHP School), Mr Jayananda Poojary, parents, and well-wishers.
In his inspiring address, Mr Vittal Shetty fondly recalled his own student days in National Institutions and confidently affirmed that Kannada-medium students are in no way inferior to others, provided they receive the right guidance and opportunities.

Mr Archibald Furtado appreciated the commendable efforts of the Head Master and staff, and conveyed his best wishes for the continuation of this unique and visionary initiative. He described the English Fest as a meaningful platform that nurtures confidence and competence among young learners.
The two-hour-long programme was a captivating display of talent, featuring short speeches, conversations, skits, and plays based on moral stories. Parents and spectators remained spellbound and pleasantly astonished, as every performance was delivered confidently in the English language, reflecting the effectiveness of classroom efforts.
The smooth and seamless flow of the programme was ensured by Teacher Shylaja while Teacher Suma efficiently handled the stage management, contributing significantly to the overall success of the event.
Officials from the Education Department, Mrs Annapurna (ECO) and Mrs Lalita (CRP), lavishly praised the students and teachers for their involvement, dedication, and the impressive standard of performances showcased.

Sharing her observations, Mrs Hemavathy P.S., Headmistress of National High School, remarked that the Primary School campus—including the playground, auditorium, and classrooms—remains lively throughout the year, thanks to the dynamic leadership of the Head Master and the proactive staff.
The programme concluded with Teacher Navyalatha proposing a heartfelt vote of thanks, acknowledging the support and cooperation of all who contributed to the success of the English Fest.
