In a heartwarming demonstration of community service and corporate social responsibility, the Rotary Club of Barkur, in association with Kishoo Enterprises — Dajiworld, Udupi, organised a Free Uniform Distribution Ceremony for the students of National High School, Barkur, on Wednesday, 1st July 2026. The event was held at the Naduru D. Sheshappa Hegde Memorial Rangamantapa, National Pre-University College, Barkur, and was attended by dignitaries, Rotarians, school staff, students, and their families.

A Gesture Rooted in Service
The initiative reflected the Rotary Club of Barkur's unwavering commitment to the welfare of the local student community. By partnering with Kishoo Enterprises — a franchise of Dajiworld Media Group, Udupi — the club ensured that students in need received school uniforms free of cost, easing the financial burden on families while reinforcing the values of dignity, equality, and inclusion within the school environment. The distribution was a practical expression of Rotary's global motto — Create Lasting Impact — brought to life in the classrooms and corridors of Barkur.

Presiding Over the Occasion
The ceremony was presided over by Rtn. H. Ajith Kumar Shetty, the newly installed President of the Rotary Club of Barkur, whose leadership has already begun to reflect a strong focus on education and youth welfare. His presidency of the occasion underscored the club's intent to place community service at the very heart of its activities for the year ahead.
Distinguished Guests
The event was graced by several distinguished guests whose presence lent the occasion both authority and warmth. Rtn. Vijay Kumar Shetty, Assistant Governor of Zone 3, graced the occasion as a guest of honour, bringing with him the encouragement and recognition of the wider Rotary district. His presence was a mark of the significance the district leadership places on grassroots service initiatives of this nature.
Rtn. Seetharama S., the newly appointed Zonal Lieutenant for Zone 3, District 3182, also attended the function. Having himself dedicated decades to education and community service in Barkur, his participation carried a deeply personal significance, and he expressed his wholehearted support for the initiative.
Rtn. Ashok Kumar Shetty, Secretary of the Barkur Vidyavardhini Sangha (Regd.), Barkur, was also present as a guest, reflecting the strong bonds of collaboration between the various service organisations of the town.
Smt. Hemavathi P. S., Senior Teacher at National High School, Barkur, represented the school's faculty at the event and conveyed the institution's heartfelt gratitude to the Rotary Club and Kishoo Enterprises for their generous contribution to the students' welfare.
Words of Welcome
All guests were warmly welcomed by the office-bearers and members of the Rotary Club of Barkur. The welcome was extended jointly by Rtn. B.V.S. Ganesha Acharya, Secretary of the Rotary Club of Barkur; Rtn. Charan Shetty, Director of Youth Service; and Club President Rtn. H. Ajith Kumar Shetty — each of whom expressed the club's vision of making education more accessible and equitable for every child in the community.
The event was supported enthusiastically by all office-bearers and members of the Rotary Club of Barkur, whose collective effort ensured the smooth and successful conduct of the distribution ceremony.
A Community United for Its Children
The Free Uniform Distribution Ceremony was received with warmth and gratitude by the students and their families, many of whom expressed that such initiatives make a genuine and tangible difference in their daily lives. For a school uniform is not merely a piece of clothing — it is a symbol of belonging, of equal standing, and of the promise that every child deserves a fair start.
As the Rotary Club of Barkur steps into a new year of service under the leadership of President Rtn. H. Ajith Kumar Shetty, this event stands as an early and meaningful statement of intent — that the club's efforts will continue to be firmly rooted in the lives and aspirations of the people it serves.
