All India Radio Recording in Barkur

All India Radio, Mangalore team were in Barkur to record programs for their Konkani Section. A team of four members lead  by Mrs Florine Roche came down to Barkur to get the recordings done. They set up their recording studio in the mini hall of newly built Parochial House, St Peter Church Barkur and the recordings were smoothly conducted. There were five sets of progams respectively performed by Women's Association (Stree Sanghatan) Barkur Church Unit, Kamath Family (Durga Traders) representing the women of GSB Community, Fr Valerian Mendonca(Parish Priest), Eric Soans Barkur and ICYM Barkur Unit. Everyone performed with enthusiasm and 5 programs running upto two hours were recorded within the span of 5 hours. Team All India Radio were with all praises for the efforts and enthusiasm of the Barkurians.

 

Women's Association (Stree Sanghatan):
1. The variety entertainment program began with the recording of Patriotic song. For the ocassion of recently celebrated Independence day of our country, the ladies sang the patrotic song 'Oot Praza'. It was composed by Fr Valerian Mendonca.
2. The next item presented by them was a talk. The topic of the talk was 'Responsibility of a Mother in the Growth of her Daughter'. It was presented by Mrs Vivet Lewis.
3. Self Poetry Recitation by Mrs Vanitha Lewis. Name of the Poem 'Manshya Jeevan'.
4. 'Lagnacho Vers'. These are the Traditional Konkani Songs sang during the wedding rituals.
5. Poem Recitation by Mrs Alice D'souza, based on the 'Women's urge to be rescued from Harassment'.
6. The program concluded with the  small play. It was based on Women Harassment in our Society.
Fr Valerian Mendonca assisted them with background music for songs and the play. The program is recorded for a duration of 30 minutes and it will be aired on September 1st, morning at 10:30.
The women who participated were, Vivet Lewis, Rashmi Olivera, Irene Pais, Jenifer Quadras, Shwetha Pinto, Annet Suares, Vanitha Gonsalves, Alice D'souza, Wilma D'almieda, Joyce Sequeira, Meena Roche, Helen D'souza, Margerate D'souza, Evegene Quadras and Norene Lobo.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Kamath Family (Durga Traders) representing the Women of GSB Community:
Mrs Mahalaxmi Kamath and team performed a variety enetertainment konkani program which was recorded for the duration of 30 minutes.
1. Mrs Geetha Kamath began the program by presenting the History of Barkur, History of GSB Community in Barkur and GSB Temples.
2. Followed by Bhajane singing by Mrs Mahalaxmi Ashwin Kamath. The next presentation was about 'Shravana Maasadalli Choodi(Tulsi Pooje) and it was presented by Mrs Mahalaxmi Ashwin Kamath.
3. Then a group song by Geetha Kamath, Sumana Pai, Anjani Kamath and Mahalaxmi Ashwin Kamath. The song was Geetha Kalayana, summerising the epic Ramayana.
4. An interview of successful women entrepreneur Supriya Rajesh. Interviewed by Sumana Pai, about Poultry Feeds (Uttam Feeds).
The program was compered by Mrs Mahalaxmi. Fr Valerian assisted them with the keyboard and Mr Ashwin Kamath was on Tabla. The airing of this progam has not been scheduled yet. Tentatively it will be in the month of September.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I.C.Y.M Barkur Unit:
The youth of Barkur Parish presented the variety entertainment program which was also recorded for the duration of 30 minutes. The youth were trained and assisted by Mr Eric Soans Barkur.
1. It began with a prayer song sung by Eric Soans, Franklin Fernandes and Michelle Andrarde. It was one of the compositions of Fr Valerian and lyrics by Eric Soans.
2. A group song by the youth. 'Yuvazanano Chalya Mukaar' composed and written by Eric Soans. It was sung by Michelle Andrade, Reesha Andrade, Raina Rodrigues, Franklin Fernandes and Eric Soans Barkur.
3. A play by name 'Aaz Tuka Falya Maka', written by Eric Soans Barkur, about the unity in families. It was performed by Reesha Andrade, Reshma D'souza, Michelle Andrade, Patson D'almeida, Raina Rodrigues, Ashan D'almeida and Shynal Pinto.
4. Konkani Poetry Recitations: Patson D'almeida   - Sarga Raaz, written by Nels Barkur
                                                       Michelle Andrade   - Arshyache Ghar, written By Pius James Karugalnade
                                                       Reshma D'souza     - Ek Salwayache Swagath, written by Anthony Barkur
                                                       Franklin Fernandes - Radne, writeen by Kishoo Barkur.
Royson Rodrigues from Thottam assisted with keyboard. This program Yuva Vani will be aired on 25th August morning at 10:30.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Apart from the group items there were two individual programs. One by Fr Valerian Mendonca and another by Eric Soans Barkur.

Fr Valerian Mendonca presented a talk on Freedom of Press in India vs Reasonable Restrictions. It was for a duration of 12 minutes. It will be aired on 28th August evening at 6:15.

 

 


Eric Soans Barkur presented his Poems. His self poetry recitation was also for 12 minutes duration. The poems were Saib yevncho asa, Bhogna Badhallyanth Sandun Gellya Chedva, Maka vinge Zaijey, Bharath Mathr Swachch Ason. It will be aired on 27th August morning at 9:30.
